Shipping rolled goods without damage

A tube protects a rolled document far better than a flat mailer, because the crush load goes around the wall instead of straight through the artwork. The wall thickness is what separates a tube that arrives round from one that arrives folded.

Standard walls suit posters and light prints. Heavy-duty walls are worth it for architectural drawings, canvas, and anything that travels through a parcel network where it will be stacked under heavier freight.

PACKING TIP

Roll loosely — a tight roll creases. Leave an inch of clearance at each end and cap both ends before taping over the seam.
