Choosing the right poly bag

Thickness is the whole decision. 1 to 1.5 mil suits light parts, apparel and dust covers. 2 to 3 mil is the everyday standard for retail and shipping. 4 mil and up is for heavy, sharp or abrasive contents where a thinner bag would split at the corners.

Too thin and you get splits, returns and a reputation problem. Too thick and you are paying for film you never needed across every order. Most operations settle one grade lighter than they assume once they actually test it.

MARKETPLACE NOTE

Amazon, Walmart and most marketplaces require a printed suffocation warning on bags with a 5" opening or larger. If you fulfil through any of them, buy the warning printed rather than labelling by hand.

What thickness do I need?

1–1.5 mil for light goods, 2–3 mil as a general standard, 4 mil and up for heavy or sharp contents. Send us a sample item and we will tell you which grade holds.
