Why a mailer instead of a box

Corrugated mailers are the standard for e-commerce and subscription shipping. They fold from one piece, self-lock, and go out without tape, which takes real time out of a packing run when you are shipping dozens a day.

They also present better on arrival than a taped carton, which matters when the unboxing is part of the product. The trade-off is capacity: mailers suit flat, light items rather than heavy or bulky ones.

PACKING TIP

Fit the item snugly — mailers have less room for void fill than a box. For anything fragile, add a bubble wrap layer before folding.
