Poly bubble mailers, and when to use one

Padded mailers sit between an envelope and a box: enough cushioning for jewellery, cosmetics, small electronics and books, without the dimensional weight of a carton.

The postage maths usually decides it. Anything that survives a firm squeeze ships cheaper in a mailer; anything that does not needs a box with room for cushioning. Getting that call right on your top-selling SKU is worth more than most packaging decisions.

PACKING TIP

Seal the strip fully across its width — a partly-pressed self-seal is the most common cause of a mailer opening in transit.

Will this protect fragile items?

Bubble lining absorbs handling and abrasion, not a hard drop. Anything genuinely fragile belongs in a box with cushioning.

Is it waterproof?

Poly mailers are. Kraft-faced mailers resist light moisture but are not waterproof.
