How to choose packing tape

Tape failures are almost never about the tape being "bad" — they're about the wrong tape for the surface, temperature, or box weight.

Hot melt tape is the general-purpose choice: strong initial tack, holds on standard corrugated, runs smoothly in dispensers and case sealers. Acrylic tape costs slightly less, resists UV and temperature swings better, and stays clear longer — good for storage and varied environments (relevant in un-conditioned Houston warehouses, where summer heat softens cheap adhesives).
